DEAD·LEVEL
Privacy Policy · effective October 19, 2026
Dead Level is a puzzle game. We collect as little as possible: there are no accounts, no ads, no analytics or tracking SDKs, and we never sell or share your data for advertising. This policy covers the Dead Level iOS app and the web version at deadlevelgame.com (also mirrored at deadlevel-game.surge.sh).
What we collect
| Data | Why | Linked to you? |
|---|---|---|
| Nickname you choose (2–12 characters, filtered for offensive words) | Shown on leaderboards, in leagues, live duels and challenge links | Linked to your anonymous device ID, not to your identity. Please don't use your real name. |
| Anonymous device ID: a random code the game creates on first use and stores on your device | Keeps your scores together and prevents duplicate submissions | Not derived from your phone's identifiers (no IDFA, no IDFV) |
| Game results: daily puzzle scores, per-puzzle accuracy and times, Time Attack scores, total level stars | Leaderboards and cheat checks | Device ID |
| Live duel results: opponents' device IDs, round scores, win/loss and rating | Matchmaking, the Duels leaderboard and ratings | Device ID |
| Leagues you create or join (league name and membership) | Private leaderboards with friends | Device ID |
| Shop interest taps (which mock shop item you tapped "buy" on; no payment details) | Deciding what to build | Device ID |
| Reports and blocks you make, and reports other players make about a nickname | Moderation and keeping players you blocked away from you | Device ID |
| IP address, processed by our server host for every request | Rate limiting and abuse prevention; we store only a per-minute request counter keyed by IP, never with your nickname or scores | Not used to identify you |
Your progress, coins, cosmetics, settings and friends list are stored only on your device. A challenge link you choose to share contains your nickname, today's results and a short player code.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no ad identifiers, no cross-app tracking.
- No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
- No location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera access.
- No sale or sharing of personal data.
- In-app purchases, if offered, are handled by Apple; we never see your payment details.
Who processes it
Game data is stored with Cloudflare (Workers, D1 database and Durable Objects) in the United States. The web version is hosted on Surge. They process data only to run the service.
Retention and deleting your data
Data is kept while the game is running. You can delete it at any time: on the home screen tap Reset my data. That deletes every server record for your device ID (nickname, scores, stars, duel record, leagues you're in, shop taps, your blocks and reports) and clears the data on your device. Reports other players made about you are kept for moderation. Deleting the app removes local data but not server records, so use Reset my data first, or email us your request.
Children
Dead Level is a general-audience game. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children; nicknames are filtered, and players can report or block others. If you believe a child has entered personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes we'll update the date above and, for material changes, show a note in the game.
